She loved to cook for the family and have us over to eat. We would sit around her table eat and tell stories. There were lots of laughs at that table. On my birthday, she would always boil me shrimp for lunch. She did that for me for at least the past 20 years.
It's been a very tough time for our family the past 2 or 3 years. My aunt Dewanna had and beat breast cancer, Mom beat breast cancer, Briley with the leukemia, and Mawmaw fought a tough battle with primary peritoneal cancer.
She did tell me that Briley was keeping her strong. She said, "if Briley can do it, so can I". Well Mawmaw, you did it! You battled bravely. You kept going even when your hands and joints were so painful. You still cooked for the family without the use of that one hand. You never complained in front of anyone. Your time here is done, Jesus called you home. Your are now reunited with your daughter Lagena. What a glorious scene that would have been! While you are up there, go ahead and spoil the angels with your chicken fry steak, we'll do our best to keep pawpaw in line down here. We have all been blessed to have you as our maw maw.
You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers even more so now! I am at a loss of words to tell you; your family has incurred MORE than any family's share of cancer for SURE! Once again know that we are here for you if you need anything. God Bless and Love!

ReplyDeleteYour family is blessed to have such strong bonds with one another and great faith. Mawmaw was a true inspiration for many! You, Alicia and family follow in her footsteps as well, inspiring others.
Keep the Faith,
